The Ron Tough Yachting Foundation offers financial assistance on an annual basis to Western Australian sailors to assist them in achieving their sailing goals. Grants are made to individual sailors and teams to support their attendance at events in a class of boat where they have already demonstrated strong performance and commitment at a National level. Grants are not generally awarded to support attendance at events within Australia.
Individual grants are determined in February/March of each year and awarded at The Ron Tough Yachting Foundation Awards night in March so the sailors have confirmation of the support in time to support their attendance at events during the European summer. If the grant is not utilised during the calendar year it was awarded, it will not be honoured thereafter.
Grants applications are also invited from Yacht Clubs to assist with the provision of essential equipment and training programs that increase participation and skills within our sport. The Ron Tough Yachting Foundation recognises the essential role played by many of the volunteer based organisations within sailing that have limited access to funding and welcomes applications for assistance.
Class Association applications for funding to host Pre-Nationals Coaching Clinics in November/December need to be submitted in September, however expressions of interest to be included in the Pre-Nationals Coaching Clinics and added to the RTYF contact database are welcomed throughout the year.
RTYF support for Class Associations is primarily through the ‘RTYF Pre–Nationals Coaching Clinic’ programmes. RTYF’s desire is to support the Olympic ‘pathway’ classes, but the Board has decided that it will also provide support for other popular local Western Australian fleets that do not necessarily have a ‘National Championship’ but can prove that they have a large number of young sailors participating on a regular basis. As the period suggested for the coaching weekends is generally over
November/December, the Board has decided that for accounting purposes, the grants duration will be from EFY to following EFY. If not utilised during that period, it will not be honoured thereafter. Class Associations will be invited to apply for the coaching clinics in July/August which will be discussed at the RTYF August Board Meeting. They will be advised following. The Board decision will be complete and final. However, expressions of interest in the normal application period of February/March would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Please read the T&C’s carefully and comply with all conditions!
